Yesterday we were writing a summary of Chelsea’s potential remaining action in this January window, and we were left with one conclusion.
If Cesare Casadei is definitely going to stay with the first team squad – which seems certain as he’s been recalled from a solid loan to do so – then Andrey Santos has to go on loan somewhere. The problem is, given he’s playing in the pre-Olympic tournament with Brazil, how do we make that happen?

The answer appears to be simple – send him to our affiliate club, Strasbourg. That reduces the paperwork and the administrative difficulties of getting Santos to complete a deal remotely.
And today, theory has become reality. Nizaar Kinsella is reporting that he’s “in talks” about making exactly that move.
It’s one we suggested in the summer – it’s a great level for him to get some experience, and hopefully Patrick Vieira can teach him a lot.
