Bryce Young admits the central area he can improve as a player heading into year two

Bryce Young is far from a perfect quarterback. He knows that. 

Heading into his second year as the Carolina Panthers' starter, Young wants to take on a larger leadership role and he is letting it be known. 

"I'm making sure that I take accountability and responsibility for us to make sure that we're on the same page," Young said via Panthers.com. "I think last year, I came in, and I wanted to learn. I was in a position where I'm the starting quarterback and a leader, but also I felt like there was a process of me trying to learn and earn that respect, and earn the ability to be a leader."

Young's rookie season was a hard watch. 

He was sacked at a near-astronomical rate. He struggled to push the ball downfield. And his wide receivers couldn't get open consistently. 

He now has the opportunity to rewrite that story in year two. He plans to do so through leadership – which he showed a lot of during his years at Alabama. 

Carolina added more offensive weapons. Young is ready to take up the mental as a leader. With a new head coach calling the shots, the Panthers know it is only a matter of time until things turn around.
