Watch: Knicks star gets injured on first offensive possession

The New York Knicks got a major scare on Sunday night when star point guard Jalen Brunson suffered a non-contact leg injury on the team's first offensive possession against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Brunson fell to the floor as soon as his leg hit the ground, but he appeared to be injured on his way up. He struggled to put weight on his leg as he was helped off the floor to the visiting locker room.

A serious injury to Brunson would be a crushing blow to a Knicks team that is already dealing with major injury issues as Julius Randle, OG Anunoby and Mitchell Robinson are all currently sidelined.

Brunson signed with the Knicks in free agency prior to the 2022-23 season and took an immediate leap forward toward stardom. He has become a focal point of the Knicks' lineup and their most important player.

He has already taken a beaten this season physically and was already dealing with a neck injury that kept him out of the lineup earlier this week.

Brunson is averaging 27.7 points and 6.7 assists per game this season. Both numbers are career highs.
